Tree Beings is an excellent book for children which highlights the important role of trees in the natural world and why we must act to protect them. The book is beautifully illustrated throughout and is well designed to be engaging to kids. My key praise for this book is its balance between being educational and inspirational. It is broken down into four big ideas each of which contain an abundance of facts as well as the inspiring stories of individuals that have fought to protect trees. Importantly it highlights to children both the power of determined individuals and the importance of working together to achieve goals. The book also provides practical advice to children about how they can make a difference in their own lives. Overall this book would be a brilliant read for any child, it will encourage them to fall in love with nature and be inspired to protect it.

Encouraging children to read books like Tree Beings is crucial to creating a new generation of people passionate about protecting the planet. I believe that to achieve climate and ecological justice people must have a deep underlying respect and appreciation for nature. The best way to achieve this is to develop these principles in childhood. Reading is an amazing way to open children's minds to all sorts of topics and nature is no exception. Growing up in a digital world has taken many children away from the wonders of the natural world, and this is especially true for children raised in urban areas. However, the principle of environmental protection has never been more important. We should encourage all children to read books like Tree Beings from an early age as they can help to educate and reconnect children with nature. Hopefully the next generation can be raised to truly appreciate the earth we live on and treat it better than those before them.
